Music plays such an important part in our emotional lives. It supports us through grief, helps us connect and belong, lifts our spirits when we feel low or lost, and transports us back to special moments. Everything You Need to Know About SSP Together™

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidence‑based therapeutic listening intervention developed by Dr Stephen Porges.

Designed to be delivered with care, and in co-regulation with qualified and nervous system experienced providers. It uses a range of carefully curated musical playlists, some scientifically filtered, to help the nervous system find safety, connection and build greater flexibility and resilience. For more information, please click here.

SSP Together™ is my neuro-affirming, trauma sensitive and relational way of working with the SSP. It is shaped by my lived experience and professional understanding of complex trauma, cPTSD, and late diagnosed AuDHD and my ongoing studies into trauma, neuroscience, and Polyvagal Theory. My approach is gentle, attuned, sensitive and effective, designed for people who, like me, feel deeply, live with a history of trauma, stress, anxiety, and identify as neurodivergent.

SSP music is not ordinary music. Dr Stephen Porges carefully crafted the playlists, including some which are scientifically filtered, to increase cues of safety that the nervous system can recognise through listening. When delivered slowly, safely attuned to a client’s nervous system, repeated relational sessions and gentle listening can help reduce fear, defensiveness and support regulation, connection, and flexibility.

The SSP can help you to find your breathing space.

We begin with a complimentary discovery call to ensure this work feels safe and appropriate. If we proceed, an in‑depth intake session allows us to understand your nervous system patterns, sensitivities, and hopes for the future. Choice, trust and safety guide every step.

Using my many years of experience, instinct and knowledge, and guided by the principles of Dr Stephen Porges ‘less is more’, we work together at a pace that allows safety to build gradually. Using carefully titrated listening, gentle reflective relational coaching and in-between session support you are supported to safety and meaningful change. SSP Together™ is not a quick fix, standalone therapy or crisis management; it is an attuned, and gently paced coaching approach, helping you to feel safe and well.

SSP Together™ is a starting point, an opportunity to gently discover safety, and a greater sense of ease, connection and hope for the future. When we are stuck in fear or danger, we can’t be free to be our true selves, living well and thriving. When we feel safe, and our nervous system is flexible, we have more capacity to live more presently, look forward and make decisions about our future, with a greater sense of purpose and drive.

“How is it that music can, without words, evoke our laughter,
our fears, our highest aspirations”
